Memoirs Restaurant & Cocktail / Champagne Bar, international fine dining in the heart of Colchester’s Town centre.

After falling in love with the Old Library building (part of the Town Hall complex) our dream was to turn it into a stunning restaurant space.

With vaulted ceilings, period architecture and ornate artwork, the room is packed with character and, with a small amount of refurbishment, has become an exceptional venue.

The style is modern and refined, complementing the grandeur of the building and its history. The addition of a custom made cocktail bar and design embellishments with the drapery and furniture, has seen our vision realised and we are very proud of the room’s new look.

With Executive Chef Matthew Wilby at the helm, the kitchen team serve modern dishes influenced by international flavours and ingredients. Lunch, a la carte and specials menus change with the seasons and offer a variety of mouth-watering flavours and styles.

Cocktails and Champagne are served from early evening at the modern bar. Guests are welcome to relax with a drink before they sit to eat and the late closing time is perfect to for those wishing to stay on after dinner.

Two private rooms offer another level of luxury. Available for events, meetings and celebrations of all kinds they can be adapted to suite your needs, with special menus, drinks selections, refreshments and dedicated staff.
