Which Champagnes are vegan-friendly?
7th January 2016
Unfortunately if you’re a vegan, some Champagnes do contain animal products. Trace amounts of milk, egg, fish and gelatine can be used when processing Champagne, either for fining, taste, or other reasons.
Thankfully, many brands are vegan-friendly:
Vegan-Friendly Champagnes:
Perrier-Jouët – Except Grand Brut
Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin Champagne
Non-vegan Champagnes:
Bollinger – Gelatine is used in the winemaking process, but no trace of it remains in the finished product.
Louis Roederer – Isinglass (fish glue) is used in order to clarify the wine before bottling, but is extracted later on.
