Slovenia is a land of wine with a respected history. Viticulture and winemaking date back to before the appearance of the Romans, when the land was populated by Celts and Illyrians. There are three main wine growing regions (Podravska, Posavska and Primorska) and these split into a total of 14 districts offering 28,000 wineries, producing upward of 80 million litres of wine annually from its 22,300 hectares of vineyards.
In amongst this vibrant wine growing nation, we will discover Hiša vin Emino, a cooperative that purchases between 200 and 300 tons of grapes from the surrounding winegrowers in order to make their award winning selection of wines. In their sparkling wine range there are:
Chardonnay William Eminent – Tasting notes: “The sparkling wine bouquet is reminiscent of apricot jam, pineapple. The bubbles are tiny and their chain is persistent and continuous. It impresses in the mouth with its freshness and fullness of aftertaste. A silky almost buttery expression of yellow yeasty, floral notes from the chardonnay and extended lees aging in the bottle.” Bronze Medal in ‘Gastronomic’ category at the 2020 Glass of Bubbly Awards.
Boemme Classic – Tasting notes: “Semi-dry sparkling wine full of flavour and pleasant spicy aromas produced according to the classic procedure.”
Boemme Rose – Tasting notes: “It is a fresh and playful semi-dry summer sparkling wine, which refreshes even a hot day with its lightness and pronounced fruitiness.”
Boemme Yellow Muscat – Tasting notes: “Yellow Muscat sparkling wine is produced according to the classic production process with 10 months of lying on yeast. Beautifully orchestrated flavours, mellow residual sweetness and green fruits expressed, not overly sweet and simply perfect balance – Very moreish.” Silver Medal in ‘Dessert’ category at the 2020 Glass of Bubbly Awards.
