Orange Cocktails

In this article, I will share with you a few tips on how to make the best mimosas. Mimosa recipes typically include a combination of orange juice and dry sparkling wine. Watch our video or head over to the Mimosa Recipe, to find out how to make them.

How To Make Homemade Mimosas

Mimosa is a tasty and delectable combination of orange juice and sparkling wine. They are fun, simple, and ideal to serve when you have guests over.

Ingredients

Since a traditional mimosa cocktail only contains two ingredients, I suggest making sure they are of the highest quality. To prepare your mimosa, this is what you will need:

  • Orange Juice – one of the perfect orange foods for this
  • Dry Sparkling Wine
  • Optional Extras: Chambord, Grand Marnier, Whiskey, or Vodka

It is the perfect drink for those who love

Tips On How To Choose A Sparkling Wine For Mimosas

I prefer using dry sparkling wines rather than sweet varieties. Use a wine that you already like. It is not necessary to spend a fortune. We usually spend $12 to $15 for the sparkling wines that I add to my mimosas.

We suggest looking for a Cava, a wine from Spain, or one of the American sparkling wines for around $15. One of the dry Prosecco’s is also a fantastic option. Unless you have found a wine that you really like, avoid going below $10, as this could result in giving you a mean headache.

Mimosas With Champagne And Freshly Squeezed Orange Juice

To make the ultimate mimosa, try and squeeze your own orange juice. It may seem like a lot of work, but it is well worth it if you want to prepare the best cocktails for your guests.

Freshly squeezed juice also tastes much lighter, fresher, slightly tart, and a lot more delicate than the juices that you buy from a store. However, if you don’t have enough time to spare, we prefer using the ‘Simply’ orange juice brand.

The Perfect Ratio

Classic mimosa recipes call for 50% orange juice, to 50% sparkling wine. While this ratio is usually the best, if you are serving a large crowd, we suggest holding back a bit on the wine. You can also choose to put more wine in than orange juice. Just keep in mind that this will make the cocktails more potent.

When you make a mimosa, the wine should go in first and then top the drinks with the orange juice. This will help the cocktail to mix together. Avoid stirring your mimosas, as this will remove all the bubbles, making the drink go flat.

How To Make Mimosas For A Crowd

Since we have shared our videos on how to make the perfect mimosas, our readers have started asking us how to prepare mimosas for a large group of people. We suggest making your mimosas in pitchers. Premix the cocktails in pitchers as your guests start arriving. If you prepare the mimosas in advance, the drinks will lose some of their bubbles (carbonation).

Whether you decide to prepare your mimosas individually or in a pitcher, always use well chilled orange juice and wine. If you prefer the cocktail in a pitcher, put it back in the fridge until you are ready to serve.

Mimosa Variations

The combination of sparkling wine and orange juice is already amazing, but there are many other variations of this classic cocktail. Here is a list of some of our favorites:

Add pomegranate, pineapple, or cranberry juice (just a splash).

Use a combination of grapefruit or blood orange juice with your orange juice.

Add one tablespoon of strawberry or peach puree to each Champagne flute (Add the puree before you pour in the wine and orange juice).

Add fresh fruits such as orange slices, blueberries, or strawberries.

Add a teaspoon of a liqueur such as Chambord or Grand Marnier to each glass for a French-inspired mimosa.

Virgin (Non-Alcoholic) Mimosas

To prepare a virgin or mimosa mocktail, change out the wine for either a flavored sparkling soda or water. Sparkling non-alcoholic grape juice happens to be a very popular option. Sparkling waters come in many different flavors, so choose one that appeals to you. Lemon or lime is great for that tropical feel, or coconut sparkling water, with a dash of pineapple puree or juice.
