A Raspberry Arising Cocktail
7th May 2021
Creating a Forget Me Not Cocktail is a challenge because it will always depend on your individual likes and dislikes to whether it becomes a Forget Me Not, but when trying it is good to enlist some help from a Forget Me Not Medal Winner, this time its Motzenbäcker, a German Sparkling Wine.
Raspberries are such a delicacy, packed with flavour, so I wanted to make sure not to overpower them, they’ve been enjoyed by humans since prehistoric times, they were even used as medicine, to clean teeth and to treat sore eyes, but it was never proven to work.
I’ve chosen to use a Brut Nature so that the Raspberry flavours can show through more easily, a Brut Nature means that it has no added sugar, indicating that the Sparkling Wine will be on the dryer side, rather than sweet, this is perfect for showing the flavours of sweeter fruits in cocktails without them becoming overly sweet, when you taste the sweetness in this cocktail it will be more natural and taste healthier.
Motzenbäcker – Mond Brut Nature
Motzenbäcker has a history dating back to 1758, currently, 4 generations of the Menger-Krug family is helping in creating Motzenbäckers Wines & Sparkling Wines, they all have their own specialist fields and gift new ideas to their Wine & Sparkling Wine, they all reside in the wine estate Krug´scher Hof and Motzenbäcker.
All the grapes used in a bottle of Motzenbäcker are grown on their land and they even have vines going on 40 years old.
Another interesting piece of information to take note of is that on the first full moon Motzenbäcker lumber wood to create their large moon oak barrels which contain their very best wines, with only their Chardonnay and Riesling grapes gaining entry, they are allowed to ripen in these barrels for 11 months.
