Sparkling Orange Wine Chile

Wines are made from grapes right? Most of us will consider this the basic fact when it comes to wine making and wine drinking, the main ingredient is one or more of many hundreds of varieties of grapes produced around the world.

There are many thousands of grape varieties out there though those which are used for wine making in nearer to 1,300 with the popular and familiar being Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc to list just a few.

There are though many options for fruit lovers to enjoy sparkling wines with examples grown across the world using the likes of cherries, apples, strawberries and more – Wine options all offer us elderflower, parsnip and even garlic.

So, sparkling wines can take many forms and this also includes orange sparkling wines. Now this is not in reference to colour which most people seeking orange wines / sparkling wines will be looking for – Here we are referring to ingredients and our popular zesty friend of the household fruit bowl, oranges.

You might be surprised to know that there are 400 varieties of oranges with popular and commonly know names such as Tangerine, blood orange, navel and Mandarin.

With a zesty and fruity flavour it is a perfect ingredient for a refreshing drink and it commonly, the orange, appears in many alcoholic drinks / cocktails. Sparkling wines should rightly so be associated primarily with regions such as Prosecco, Cava, Champagne and more with the chosen ingredient being grapes. Though can we also venture through the fruit options by exploring other alternatives?

The world now embraces changes and options, even if one thinks something isn’t great you can guarantee another will be a fan.

If you are a lover of oranges then the Lust Sparkling Orange option could be for you. It shows a deeper and drier overall character, less zestiness and more in the line of orange peel / dried orange slices. Served very well chilled is best.” Christopher Walkey

It is certainly worth a try and I think you will find it very much a love or hate fizz – I see it as another option for wine buyers, likely to gather a trend with some.

The idea of producing a fruit sparkling, 100% natural, was born in a trip to southern Spain of the owners of Agro San Antonio, the Barrientos Jadue family, where they got to know the unique experience of an orange sparkling produced under the traditional method.

Owning orange fruit farms themselves and looking to create an -outstanding product, they came with the dream of producing the best orange sparkling produced under the Charmat method.

This is how the company San Antonio SPA was created, developing its registered brand LUST, with the aim of producing the best Charmat fruit sparkling’s in the world.
