Champagne still the choice of Bubbly for Las Vegas
15th April 2019
Stilt walkers pouring, vending machines dispensing, celebration toasts, sabers and 50% discounts – Champagne certainly has its place in Las Vegas, the casino capital of the world, with it’s roulette, blackjack and slot machines like slotscalendar.
Famous labels like Ace of Spades, Dom Perignon, Cristal and more are the names who usually feature widely – The more expensive labels, the ones which it looks good to be drinking and that you have enough cash to handle the bill! A recent article released on the Las Vegas Sun website spoke about a $1 million weekend stay over at the Palms Hotel which involves multiple “rare format” bottles of Dom Perignon and Ace of Spades Champagne along with being escorted to a private Champagne vault and given “white-glove” service as you choose your favourite bottles of bubbly!
Maybe you do not have a massive budget, a lot more accommodating package at $450,000 you can have a stop over at The Venetian Resort Las Vegas who unveiled a new package ‘that takes VIP service to a new level‘, here you can indulge in Champagne massages and dinner prepared by chef Lorena Garcia as part of your unique package.
Champagne has for a long time been seen as the apirational product, the drink of kings, the bubbles to celebrate with and share special moments and despite the rise of popularity and sales of Prosecco, Champagne still remains the choice of the rich and famous. Globally, backed by figures released for 2018, there are over 300 million bottles of Champagne sold every year – over 23 million bottles are exported to the USA annually.
Without doubt, Champagne is still very much the drink for celebrating and for Las Vegas it is a frequent reason to be popping open and pouring bubbly! Whether or not it is a big win at a poker tournament or a jackpot win via online gambling sites, for many venues it is important that they hold a decent wine list and that there are a good choice of Champagne labels to ask the Sommelier to dig out from the cellars and serve. Some venues will hold several thousand wines on their lists and we have heard that millions of $’s of wines are stored away in Las Vegas cellars waiting to be poured and enjoyed.
We must remember that it is not always just the label that can make a Champagne expensive, it is also about the size of bottle! Standard bottles we are all familiar with, though we can also be served Champagne from bottles that are 40 times this size (30L Midas)!
