Castle Brook English Sparkling Wine
28th April 2016
Tucked away in the beautiful meandering Wye Valley of South Herefordshire, Castle Brook’s vines were planted in 2004 on the site of an ancient Roman vineyard.
The vineyard is run by the Chinn family, who are best known for producing Wye Valley Asparagus at Cobrey Farms in Herefordshire.
The steep south-facing slopes and warm western air help produce some of the best grapes in the UK. Castle Brook focus on the 3 main Champagne grape varieties: Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier, and Chardonnay.
Castle Brook 2009 Classic Cuvée – £26
Their multi-award-winning 2009 brut rested on its lees for 4 and a half years before being released last year, resulting in a stunning and high quality sparkling wine. With a deliciously delicate, crisp palate and a hint of lemon blossom. Brioche and toasty yeast notes add complexity to the finish.
