Sales of Sparkling Wine Soar

Sparkling wine continues to become a drink to be enjoyed everday, not just saved for special occasions.

In Britain, we drank an extra 29.7million litres of wine, both still and sparkling, at home in the last year, a 3.7% rise on the previous year. Sparkling wine has enjoyed the greatest percentage gain thanks primarily to the extraordinary growth in Prosecco although there are plenty of other sparkling wines also enjoying good growth, including English sparkling wine.

Enjoying a glass of bubbly or two at home is definitely on the increase with sales of bubbly rising 15.9% to £634.4 million.

One particular area that benefited from this growth is own-label sparkling wine with the British spending an extra £40.4 million on them to enjoy at home.
