Fox & Fox – Award Winning English Sparkling Wine
16th April 2020
This winery has produced some extraordinary sparkling wines, but you don’t have to take my word for it, Fox & Fox have won Gold Medals and even taken home a Trophy 3 years running for 3 different sparkling wines, their wines continue to impress judges at The World’s Finest Glass of Bubbly Awards and people all over Great Britain.
Fox & Fox
The Fox & Fox winery started planting vines in 2004, just 1 year after Jonica & Gerard Fox decided they wanted to make sparkling wine. They first started producing their own sparkling wine in 2009 and in 2010 they had to expand to a larger vineyard, they currently have 30 acres, but it wouldn’t surprise me if they end up needing to upsize again.
Within Fox & Fox’s two vineyards, they grow Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier.
Here’s a Foxy Fact for you: Not all Champagne or Sparkling Wines are vegetarian, some wineries will filter their sparkling wines through isinglass, which is a fish bladder, but you’ll be happy to know that every bottle of Fox & Fox is 100% Vegetarian and Vegan and all their wines are registered with The Vegan Society.
Fox & Fox also do something pretty amazing, it might not interest all of you, but each year they put out a harvest report detailing the weather, conditions of their vines during these times and when they harvest, if you have one of their vintages and want to check what the grapes went through before ending up in your glass, just click here.
It’s always an amazing experience when you can taste a bottle of Champagne or Sparkling Wine at the vineyard/winery it came from, luckily Fox & Fox offer bespoke wine tastings, either hosted by Jonica or Gerard, the minimum requirement is 6 people and the max being 10, so it’s perfect for any group of friends or even a birthday party, if you would like to find out more, just click here.
In a recent article, an Interview with Jonica Fox from Fox & Fox to celebrate International Women’s Day, she was asked ‘Where’s the most memorable place you’ve enjoyed a Glass of Bubbly?’ her response was this – ‘Standing with Gerard in our vineyard, the night before harvest, watching the hawks soar and the sunset, drinking a wine made from grapes picked 5 years before from the rows around us.’
There’s always a story behind a bottle of bubbly and the people who made it, sometimes it’s nice to know.
