Hattingley Valley is a family owned grower and producer of premium English sparkling wine in Lower Wield, Hampshire. The first vineyard was established in 2008 and was planted with Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. They currently manage over 24 hectares (60 acres) of vines across two well-situated sites which provide excellent growing conditions. At Hattingley Valley, a key element of of their style is the subtle use of oak barrels to ferment a small proportion of the wines each year. This helps to soften the wines before they go into bottles for the second fermentation. Cottonworth English Sparkling Wine

Cottonworth English Sparkling Wine

By Glass of Bubbly / 20th February 2016

Home to the Liddell family and their three vineyards spanning a carefully selected, 30 acres, Cottonworth is a relative newcomer to the rapidly expanding English Sparkling Wine market. Located in the heart of the undulating Test Valley, the chalk-rich soil and temperate microclimate help to produce grapes of exceptional quality. The first vines were planted on the fringes of a chalk quarry where cows had grazed for generations. It soon became apparent that the three classic varieties suited the soil type perfectly, so 10 years later the planting has slowed down, but the fun has just started! They produce a Classic Cuvée and Sparkling Rosé with a Blanc de Blancs is in the pipeline. The Classic Cuvée is soft with apple and almond aromas balanced out with a hint of brioche. The rosé is all about red fruits and quince with a refreshing acidity. www.cottonworth.co.uk

New arrival Exton Park is a 55 acre vineyard –one of the largest in the county – on the prized chalk slopes of the South Downs, above the Meon Valley. Over the past ten years, it has been gradually planted with Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, according to different terroirs. All the Exton Park sparkling wines come from this one, single vineyard. French-born Corinne Seely has been making wines at Exton Park, in a new state-of-the-art winery, since 2011. It was not until May 2015 that the first three award-winning wines were released –non vintage blends from the past few years. In September, two Vintages from the 2011 harvest, Blanc de Blancs and Rose, were added to the range.
